The City of Wolverhampton Council is launching a range of warm spaces throughout the city to help its residents beat the chill this autumn and winter, because of energy prices and the Cost-of-Living crisis.

The council will open its own wide range of buildings across the city and work with community and faith groups to offer not only a safe space for people to keep warm, but also to be able to charge and connect their devices and get a hot drink and something to eat.

The spaces will be available from October 24 with a total of 30 venues initially opening their doors, including community centres, libraries and Strengthening Families hubs.   

The venues will bear a Warm Spaces logo, for more details on the venues please see the list below.

Warm Spaces Shuttle Service

We're also providing a free shuttle service to help you get to our warm spaces, just book your space and we'll pick you up.

Our shuttle service is free of charge to book, all of our vehicles will have a Warm Spaces Logo on them and our drivers are DBS checked and employed by the council.

Please note the shuttle service is not available from 24th Dec to 2nd Jan.

What is a Warm Space? 

Warm Spaces are a network of spaces across the city that can provide warmth and shelter to families and communities who need it. This is part of the council’s cost of living support initiative to support people through the cost-of-living crisis. 

How can I access a Warm Space? 

View the list of available venues in the Warm Spaces Venues section above.

If I have limited access to travel, how can I get to a Warm Space? 

The council has a shuttle service to take citizens to and from a Warm Space venue. Citizens can book a space on the shuttle by visiting Warm Spaces Shuttle Service. If they do not have access to the internet or anyone to assist them with booking online, they can either call their Carer Support/Social Worker/Community Team for help with booking, or they can call Customer Services on 01902 290241 option 0 

How long will the Warm Spaces be operated? 

The Warm Spaces scheme will run until end of March 2023 

How will we ensure the sites are safe? 

All venues must complete the Warm Space Checklist, as well as having a site visit to make sure the requirements are met. 

What will be the opening hours of the spaces?  

The list of available venues and opening times can be found in the Warm Spaces Venues section above.

What activities & provision will be available including food & drink?

This is dependent on Warm Space Venue.

How about H&S – first aiders/fire marshals

All venues must complete the Warm Space Checklist, which covers requirements for first aiders and fire marshals / fire wardens. 
 

Will ‘warm space’ staff be on site – volunteers etc 

All venues must complete the Warm Space Checklist, which covers whether volunteers or paid employees will staff the facility.
