A Family Hub is a place where children, young people and their families can go when they need support.

The people working in the Family Hub will be able to give you information or advice and help you to find and get support from different services in the area.

How do I get help from a Family Hub?

Getting help from a Family Hub is simple. You can walk in, telephone or a professional can refer you.

Opening times are 9.00am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday initially, but as we build the support network some services will start to run from the Family Hubs in the evenings and weekends. We will also offer support and services from other buildings in your community.

There is a Community Midwifery team based in each family hub. Where they will see pregnant and post-natal families. Appointments are booked in advance with a midwife.

Breastfeeding Support Group

There are so many reasons to join us at our breastfeeding support groups, you don’t just have to have a breastfeeding question to come along.

Drop-in this week and say hello! It’s a great place to meet other new parents and get out of the house for some needed conversation.

Stay and play groups offer a chance for children aged 0-5 years to socialise and play with others, and for the parents to meet one another. We provide them with a safe environment to discover new toys and get used to socialising with other children.

We offer opportunities to allow the children to develop physical, communication skills, and personal, social, and emotional development. We provide a clean, safe and creative environment with a range of toys and activities.

Health Visitors offer a universal service to all families with pre-school children, providing advice and support in relation to family health needs and child health promotion.

All families are offered 5 mandated contacts: antenatal, within 14 days of a baby’s birth, 6-8 weeks, 9-12 months and 2-2 ½ years which can be accessed through Family Hubs by appointment only.

Baby Bop

  • Friday 13:00 to 14:30

A singing and dancing interactive session for parents and children from birth to 12 months. Each week the group leader will engage parents and children with music, a disco ball, musical instruments and singing. Our variety of rhythms create shifts in the child’s mood—some boosting their energy while others helping them relax.

Breastfeeding Support Group

  • Wednesday 10:00 to 12:00

Many pregnant women find it very helpful to attend a breastfeeding support group before the birth of their baby, to talk to other mothers, ask questions and meet breastfeeding supporters.

New mothers also value support groups to gain practical breastfeeding support and information from peer supporters, and to meet other mothers to share their experiences.

Run by Wolverhampton’s Infant Feeding Team and 0-19 Health Visiting Team, our face-to-face support groups operate on a drop-in basis, so there is no need to book to attend. Partners, friends, and family members are welcome to join you.

The Journey of Change Programme is a 4-week course with a duration of 1.5 hours each week. The Journey of Change Families Programme is designed for all age groups as it focusses on the basic principles of Parenting.

The Journey of Change is a bespoke parenting programme. This means when you have attended all four core modules a Next Steps form will be completed with yourself and the group facilitator.

PPAP (Parent Plus Adolescence Programme)

  • Thursday from 09:30-11:30 (commencing 22/02/24 )

 Parents Plus Adolescent Programme (PPAP) is for parents who have concerns about the behaviour or emotions of a child. Topics include Positive parenting and communication, getting along with and understanding your teenager, empowering teenagers, establishing rules, and having a discipline plan, dealing with conflict and aggression and problem solving with teenagers.
 
The programme will be delivered over 8 sessions for 2 hours per week for parent/caregivers of children aged 11 to 16 years.

Wolves at Work are providing drop-in sessions aimed at helping local residents to prepare for work and to find employment, regardless of your previous work experience. Bereavement Support Group

Sessions allow space to talk and learn through the “The Bereavement Journey” course, which is 7 sessions, helping people to process their grief and loss. Sessions cover aspects of mental, physical spiritual and emotional health as well as impact on family and other relationships. 1:1 support is available on request and sign posting to professionals or specialist agencies where applicable.

Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) is a research-based program for caregivers of children aged 4 months to 6 years.  It is delivered in a group setting over 8 weeks and helps parents understand their children's emotional needs and develop secure attachments, thereby helping children grow into healthy adults. It focuses on observing and improving the parent-child relationship to provide security and support. The programme helps parents to provide a secure base for their child and their exploratory behaviours, which, in turn, improves their child’s attachment.

Many pregnant women find it very helpful to attend a breastfeeding support group before the birth of their baby, to talk to other mothers, ask questions and meet breastfeeding supporters.

New mothers also value support groups to gain practical breastfeeding support and information from peer supporters, and to meet other mothers to share their experiences.

Run by Wolverhampton’s Infant Feeding Team and 0-19 Health Visiting Team, our face-to-face support groups operate on a drop-in basis, so there is no need to book to attend. Partners, friends, and family members are welcome to join you.
