Damp and mould
Damp and mould growth is often mistaken for leaks.
Usually, it is condensation that causes the growth. This happens when warm moist air comes into contact with a cold surface like a wall or window.
The following can cause warm moist air:
- cooking
- washing
- drying clothes indoors
- boiling kettles
The problem is worse in rooms with poor heating because the surfaces in those rooms will be colder.

In most cases, damp and mould is easy to treat by the tenant or the landlord. We may not be able to award priority due to medical conditions that damp and mould can affect.
