The annual Schools Diversity Celebration was held at the Civic Hall yesterday (Thursday 22 October, 2015), and saw more than 700 children and young people from 19 local primary, secondary and special schools give performances in dance, drama and music.
The aim of the event was to showcase the range of cultures, languages, traditions and faiths that are found in the city.
The grand finale saw all schools join in a performance of Believe by Lin Marsh while school banners were paraded to the stage, creating a colourful scene which got the specially invited audience of parents and guardians on their feet.
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "This annual event celebrates our wonderfully diverse, multi cultural and talented city.
"I'd like to thank all those children and young people who took part - they worked really hard on their acts and their efforts were rewarded with a fantastic show which was enjoyed by everyone who was privileged to be there."
Schools which took part in this year's event included Penn Hall, Woodfield Infant, Merridale Primary, East Park Primary, St Luke's C of E, Bilston C of E Primary, Loxdale Primary, Heath Park, St Andrew's C of E, Lanesfield Primary, Tettenhall Wood, Trinity C of E Primary, Berrybrook Primary, Wednesfield High, Perry Hall Primary, Stow Heath Primary, The Giffard Catholic Primary, Elston Hall Primary and The King's C of E.
