WV Living has appointed a contractor to develop its first homes in the City of Wolverhampton.

Jessup have been selected to build 52 homes, including 13 affordable homes, on the site of the former Danesmore Park Primary School.

The development off Russell Close will be named Danesmore Pastures and will see a collection of 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom homes for sale.

Hoardings will shortly go up on site with works to get underway before Christmas and the first house expected to be up by spring 2018.

It is part of WV Living's first phase of delivering more than 1,000 new homes over the next 4 years, as the council's own housing company.

Councillor Peter Bilson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Housing and Assets, said: "This is great news for WV Living and everyone is looking forward to seeing the first WV Living homes soon coming out of the ground.

"The designs that have been created will provide top quality homes for the city and developments with strong local links, which residents can be proud of.

"There is a strong belief that a council owned housing company is both viable and offers the best outcomes for the council in terms of both strategic housing and income generation.

"WV Living will support the overall house building programme in the City of Wolverhampton and in appointing Jessup we are confident of delivering WV Living homes people will love."

Jessup Managing Director, Clive Jessup said: "Jessup are delighted to be working with WV Living to deliver these homes in Wolverhampton. With over 30 years of providing housing schemes throughout the Midlands our experienced team are keen to help in the regeneration of these sites to provide places to live, work, thrive and enjoy."

Work on WV Living homes is also expected to start in spring 2018 on the former Ettingshall Primary School site, a plot of land on nearby Sweetbriar Road, and the former Prouds Lane Leisure Centre site, with planning permission in place.

The former Ettingshall Primary School site off Herbert Street will see 25 houses and 9 apartments developed on it, with ten affordable homes lined up on Sweetbriar Road.

Forty units, including ten affordable homes, will be built on the former Prouds Lane Leisure Centre site.

The names of the new developments have been chosen to reflect connections to the local area.

The former Ettingshall Primary School site will be branded 'Sweet Briary', and the Prouds Lane former Leisure Centre site will be called 'Peascroft'.

The 7 types of homes - The Pelham, The Bantock, The Moseley, The Wightwick, The Newbolt, The Hayward and The Leveson - have been named after popular landmarks and famous people associated with the city.

WV Living and Jessup are holding a public information event for the Danesmore Pastures site, for local residents, at The Hub at Ashmore Park, between 2pm and 4pm, on Friday 1 December.
