Wolverhampton’s annual LGBT+ Pride event is returning to the city after the pandemic forced it to be cancelled in 2020.

A line up of stars including Nadine Coyle, formerly of Girls Aloud and Lee Ryan, formerly of Blue, has been announced for the celebration of the LGBT+ community which will take place on Saturday 4 September.

The event will form part of the city’s Relight Festival which is taking place inside a big top style marquee at West Park.

Tickets for Pride have gone on sale today (Friday 23 July) and are available at Relight Festival.

The line-up announced so far includes Nadine Coyle, Lee Ryan, Phats & Small (Ben), Lolly and Nate Ethan.

Councillor Steve Evans, City of Wolverhampton Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for events, said: “Pride is back – an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate who they are in a safe and happy, party environment.

“Pride is our city’s annual celebration of the LGBT+ community, it is open to everyone and it promises to be one heck of a party.

“The line up this year is the best we’ve ever had, I urge people to get the date in their diary and book their tickets as I’m sure they will get snapped up quickly.

“Unfortunately, last year’s event was one of those which we were forced to cancel due to the pandemic, but I’m absolutely delighted that this year we can bring it back and I’m sure it will be bigger and better than ever.”

Wolverhampton’s Relight Festival is organised by the city council and will see 30 events take place over 17 days between 20 August and 5 September.

There is something for everyone including award-winning comics, music icons, Wolves FC legends, children’s TV favourites and even life like animatronic dinosaurs.
