Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, in accordance with tradition, delivered the local Proclamation of Accession of King Charles III outside St Peter's Collegiate Church on Sunday (11 September).

This was followed by the lowering of the Union Flag outside Wolverhampton Civic Centre to half-mast for the remainder of the period of mourning for Her Majesty The Queen.

Wolverhampton civic leaders including Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Dr Satya Sharma MBE DL, Mayor of Wolverhampton, Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Brookfield, Leader of the Conservative Group, Councillor Wendy Thompson, Council Chief Executive, Tim Johnson, Pat McFadden MP and Jane Stevenson MP, then laid wreaths and the public left floral tributes in memory of Her Majesty The Queen, at the Cenotaph, outside the church.
