Wolverhampton residents are being urged to cast their vote online and help the city's markets to be crowned as Britain's best.

Bilston, Wolverhampton and Wednesfield Markets are all in the running for the award in the National Association of British Market Authorities' Market of the Year competition.

The competition, which has been running since 2005, has a range of categories including Best Street/Outdoor Market, Best Indoor Market and Best Speciality Market. Bilston has previously finished as a runner-up in the Best Indoor Market Hall category.

The closing date for voting is 31 December, 2013.

The National Association of British Market Authorities says there are more than 1,150 markets operating within the UK and that more than £1.1 billion is spent at market stalls each year.
