Swimmers in Wolverhampton are being invited to take the plunge this April - and be a part of a Swimathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Swimathon takes place in hundreds of pools around the country, including WV Active Central and WV Active Bilston Bert Williams, between 17 and 19 April, 2015.

The Swimathon is the UK's biggest fundraising swimming event with thousands of people set to take part in 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km distances or team challenges over 1.5km or 5km.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to get in the pool, either on their own or with family and friends, and complete a swimming challenge of their choice. At the same time, they'll be raising vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care which will be able to help people living incredibly tough lives, both here in the UK and around the world."
