Early indications of performance provided to the City of Wolverhampton Council by local schools and academies suggest the city's young people have achieved improved A level and vocational results again this year.
The council has received results from just over half of Wolverhampton's schools and academies so far, and they show that, overall, post 16 results have improved on 2015.
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "Although these are only early indications which means that performance cannot be formally validated at this stage, it seems as though young people in Wolverhampton have performed very well in their post 16 exams.
"I'd like to congratulate students - as well as their schools, teachers and parents - for their hard work over the last two years, and I hope they are looking forward to their next move, whether that is going on to university or entering the world of work or training."
She added: "If you didn't get the grades you expected - either because they are better than you hoped, or not quite as good - there are still plenty of opportunities for you to secure alternative placements, not least through the Clearing process.
"Careers advisors from Connexions Wolverhampton will also be on hand to help you assess what options are available to you."

Meanwhile, Adult Education Wolverhampton, recently rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted, provides information, advice and guidance on career and funding options, and specific courses to prepare learners for work and employment, including helping with CV writing, interview skills and training.
