There is still time for people to have their say about 2 important health services which are due to be recommissioned next year.

The NHS Health Checks service offers screening to identify the early signs of poor health, allowing people to make important lifestyle changes. Meanwhile, Sexual Health Services offer a range of help and support to enable people to maintain good sexual health.

Both services are due to be recommissioned in 2022, and the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Public Health team is engaging with service users, professionals and the wider public to gather opinions on what these services should provide and how they can be best delivered to those who need it.

To have your say about NHS Health Checks, please visit NHS Health Check (Public). To have your say about sexual health services, please visit Sexual Health Services Engagement

Both surveys seek people’s feedback about the existing service provision and the council’s commissioning intentions going forward. The closing date for comments is 1 November, 2021. Anyone who is unable to complete a survey online can request a paper copy – please email phcommissioning@wolverhampton.gov.uk for details.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Improving the health and wellbeing of Wolverhampton residents is one of the council’s top priorities.

“We intend to recommission both of these services and it is important that, before we do, we seek feedback about the existing provision and how it might be improved.

“If you have experience of one or both of these services, or might in the future, please take a few moments to take part in this engagement process and have your say.”

The NHS Health Check programme is aimed at adults aged 40 to 74, with the aim of preventing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Eligible patients who are not already diagnosed with one of these conditions are invited for a health check every 5 years to assess their health and support them to manage their risk of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity.
