People have 2 more weeks to have their say about drug and alcohol treatment services in Wolverhampton.

The City of Wolverhampton Council commissions a range of interventions and support services for individuals and families who are affected by drug or alcohol misuse.

Current contracts are due to end in March 2018, and the council is keen to hear people's opinions on what works well and how services could be improved in the future.

Ros Jervis, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Director for Public Health, said: "We want to ensure our drug and alcohol treatment services are as effective as possible.

"As part of the commissioning process we want to hear what people think about the current services and where there is room for improvement so that we can offer the most appropriate intervention and support to adults, young people and families."

According to Public Health England, alcohol is the third biggest risk factor for illness and death. In England, 9 million adults drink at levels that increase the risk of harm to their health, while 1.6 million show signs of alcohol dependence.

Nearly 3 million adults use an illegal drug each year, with death rates among heroin users 10 times higher than those among the general population.
