They will be enjoying sausage and Yorkshire pudding with sweet potato mash, carrots, peas and gravy, or a special Red Dragon Pie with mash and vegetables, followed by toffee apple ice cream.
Every week tens of thousands of hot lunches are served to children and young people in the city, with more than 10,000 pupils eligible for free or discounted meals and all 8,500 pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 eligible for free meals through the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.
The tasty menus are developed with help from pupils, parents and school catering staff, and offer plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables alongside popular favourites like roast dinners, pasta dishes and vegetarian options. Dishes for special diets are also available by prior arrangement.
Meat served is Red Tractor certified and fruit and vegetables on the menu, which has received the Food for Life Bronze award for 2 years running, is locally sourced.
The St George's Day menu is one of a series of celebration menus offered to mark special events, which also include Bonfire Night, Christmas and Diwali.
