More than 450 pupils took to the stage to shine in front of over a thousand family and friends at this year's spectacular Wolverhampton Schools Diversity Celebration.

They wowed the capacity crowd at WV Active Aldersley on Friday night (23 November), performing a wide range of song, dance and drama which showcased the cultures, languages, traditions and faiths found in Wolverhampton.

The annual event, now in its 31st year, took as its theme 'City of Dreams', and involved 450 pupils from local schools and groups.

They included Penn Hall School, Loxdale Primary School, St Andrew's CE Primary School, Perry Hall Multi Academy Trust, Merridale Primary School, Elston Hall Multi Academy Trust, St Jude's CE Primary School, St Michael's CE Primary School, Heath Park School, Lanesfield Primary School, St Luke's CE Primary School, Bilston CE Primary School, West Park Primary School, Trinity CE Primary School, Wodensfield Primary School, The Kings CE School and Azaad Dhol Group.

There were also performances by the Wolverhampton Music School String Orchestra and the Diversity Staff Choir.

Councillor Lynne Moran, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "The Schools Diversity Celebration is a wonderful annual event giving our children and young people the chance to come together and perform songs, dance and drama for family and friends on the big stage.

"Friday night's fantastic performance showcased what a diverse and multi-cultural city we live in - and just how talented our young people are.

"I would like to congratulate everyone who was involved for their hard work which resulted in a fabulous evening's entertainment which was enjoyed by all - including hundreds of parents and teachers in the audience who I am sure were all bursting with pride!"

The event was made possible thanks to sponsorship from CPN Systems, Concept Education, William Gough and Community Trade Union.
