Certificates were presented to social workers by the Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Phil Page at a ceremony on Friday (14 December, 2018).
The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment helps newly qualified social workers to develop their skills, knowledge and capability and strengthen their professional confidence. It provides them with access to regular and focused support during their first year of employment.
Social workers receiving certificates included Yaa Murdock, Nyradzai Ngove, Jodie Baker, Rebecca James, Niamh Kilmartin, Deborah Oigbochie, Niall O'Connor, Lucy Perry, Gina Gill, Lyndcee McLauchlan-Brown, Kellie Hines, Usman Afzal, Andrea Perry, Evelyn Mutema, Debra Roberts, Adegoke Adeyemi and Ruth Leon from Children's Services and Amy Leason from Adults' Services.
Mayor Councillor Page said: "The council very much values the work of social workers and, in Wolverhampton, we take the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment very seriously. Everybody has worked hard to complete a thorough portfolio and taken part in development opportunities."
Principal Social Worker Louise Haughton said: "The standard and quality of social work practice undertaken by newly qualified social workers has been extremely high with many receiving compliments from a range of partners and positive feedback from Ofsted in recent visits."
Councillor Paul Sweet, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, added: "All the social workers who have passed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment have demonstrated their ability to worked effectively with children, families and adults with additional needs to improve their personal outcomes. I would like to congratulate all of those who have successfully completed it."
