The purpose built facilities will be located in Market Square behind the Robin Newby Quality Family Butcher cabin and opposite Market Square Furnishings.

The free facilities will be available for use between 8am and 4.30pm on market opening days only - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays - - from Tuesday 27 September.

Cabinet Member for City Environment, Councillor Steve Evans, said: "We recognise there has been a demand for public toilets in Market Square since the indoor market and Heantun House closed.

"The new cabins bring the indoor and outdoor markets together to enhance the customer experience.

"We are in constant dialogue with the traders and we are always looking at ways we can improve the market environment.

"I really hope the public take a trip down to the market in the city centre to grab some fantastic bargains on fresh fruit, meat, and fish, as well as other goods."

Wolverhampton's new look city centre market opened for business at the end of April.

It was re-invigorated and modernised, with purpose built cabins adding to the existing stalls.

The new market houses 46 licensed outdoor stalls which are enclosed by 16 colourfully branded cabins.

Preparatory work for the demolition of the former indoor market and Heantun House has begun.

Market Square is one of three regular retail markets in Wolverhampton, with Bilston and Wednesfield markets also popular places to shop.
