There are only a few days left to nominate the city’s unsung heroes – to reward them with a matchday experience at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The City of Wolverhampton Council is keen to celebrate the contribution of people who go above and beyond to care about their community or give up their time to help others, and will be inviting 6 of them to enjoy Wolves' Premier League clash with Leicester City on Friday 14 February as guests of Deputy Chief Executive Mark Taylor.

In order to select the 6 deserving recipients, the council is asking people to send in their nominations as soon as possible. The entries will be whittled down into a shortlist with the winners selected at random by the Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Claire Darke.

She said: “We know that right across our city there are thousands of unsung heroes doing good deeds for others each and every day.

“We want to celebrate the work they do – and reward them for their selflessness – by treating them to a 3 course meal and tickets to Wolves v Leicester.

“They could be anyone – volunteers, a good neighbour, a charity fundraiser – the only stipulation is that they are making a positive difference to the lives of others and are doing so in an unpaid capacity.

“I would encourage people to put forward their nominations today. Please tell us who you are nominating and why you think they are a worthy winner."

To make a nomination, or nominations, please send the individual’s name and a short summary – no more than 100 words – detailing why you think they should win to: Martha Cummings, Voluntary Sector Co-ordinator, City of Wolverhampton Council, Civic Centre, St Peter's Square WV1 1SH. Alternatively you can email voluntarysector@wolverhampton.gov.uk. Please include your contact details. The closing date for entries is Friday (24 January, 2020).
