Parents and guardians of children who will start school for the first time this September have just over a week left to apply for their place.

The window for applications for reception places at infant and primary schools in Wolverhampton closes next Sunday 15 January, 2017. The online process is quick and easy and around 75% of parents and guardians have already completed their applications.

However, around 180 applications have been started but not yet submitted, while some parents and guardians have not yet begun theirs.

Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "Please ensure you have completed your application by the deadline of 15 January, 2017, as applying after this could have a detrimental effect on your chances of securing a place at one of your preferred schools.

"This is one of the most important decisions you can make for your son or daughter so please think carefully about which school you would like your child to attend."

Applying online has a number of benefits. The applications are made through a secure website, applications can be viewed and edited online up to the closing date. Applicants will also be able to access their child's school place allocation online as soon as they are announced on 18 April, 2017 rather than having to wait for their allocation in the post.
