Wolverhampton's Carer Support Team is holding a series of free events for people who care for a friend or relative over the next few months - offering everything from information and advice to respite and relaxation.

They begin with a Wellbeing Day at Bantock House Museum and Park on Thursday 22 March from 10.30am to 2.30pm, featuring arts and crafts, massage therapy, tai chi and relaxation workshops. The session forms part of Live, Learn, Work - a series of events for residents taking place between 14 and 31 March, 2018.

Merridale Street Fire Station will be hosting Direct Payments workshops on Tuesday 15 May from 10.30am to 12pm and Wednesday 16 May from 1.30pm to 3pm, giving carers information and advice about Direct Payments, including eligibility criteria and what they can and cannot be used for.

And a celebration will be taking place at Bantock House Museum and Park on Friday 15 June to mark Carers Week 2018, featuring a range of guest speakers, information and advice.

Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adults, said: "We estimate there are some 28,000 people in Wolverhampton who care for a friend or relative, and these events are an excellent opportunity for carers to find out more about the help that is available to them as they carry out their vital role."

To find out more about each event, please call Melinder Kaur at the Carer Support Team on 01902 553429 or email carer.support@wolverhampton.gov.uk. The events are free, but booking is essential.

The Carer Support Team offers support for informal carers across the city including information, advice and guidance on a range of issues including benefits, emotional support, carer services and support groups.
