A date has been set for the funeral of long serving City of Wolverhampton Councillor Peter Bilson who passed away this month at the age of 66.

The funeral will take place at St Peter’s Church in Wolverhampton on Wednesday 11 March at midday.

It will be followed by a private committal at Bushbury Crematorium for family only.

Councillor Bilson, who was also Deputy Leader of the Council, served the city for almost four decades. He leaves behind wife Nicky, children James and Emma, daughter in law Audrey, son in law Chris, 6 grandchildren and his brother, Ken.

A book of condolence remains open at Wolverhampton Civic Centre for visitors to leave comments and pay their respects.

Speaking on behalf of the family, son James said: “I’d like to thank everyone for the kind words and tributes we have received. We have been overwhelmed by the response and take great comfort in reading the hundreds of kind messages from people who knew our Dad as a friend, colleague or councillor.”
