Inspired by the exploits of Andy Murray and Serena Williams at Wimbledon?

Then pick up a racket and join in the fun as the Lawn Tennis Association's Great British Tennis Weekend rolls into West Park on Saturday (16 July, 2016).

It will give families and friends the chance to have a go at tennis for free on Saturday, whether they've never picked up a racket before or are a seasoned regular. Rackets will be provided and coaches will be on hand to help people get started.

Sessions can be booked online by visiting Type=links;Linkid=3808;Title=Great British Tennis Weekend;Target=_blank;. Families who come down on the day will also have the chance to sign up to a 6 week tennis programme.

Tennis coach Paul Hodgetts from Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis & Squash Club said: "With our Every Point Racquets Academy team, and our partners from the City of Wolverhampton Council and the LTA putting so much effort into making tennis easy to try, we hope to see loads of people enjoying what we have to offer, and signing up too."

There are also Great British Tennis Weekend events at Linden Lea Tennis Club and Tettenhall Tennis Club.

Councillor Paul Sweet, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: "Playing tennis has many health benefits including increasing your aerobic capacity, lowering blood pressure, reducing body fat and improving muscle tone.

"The Great British Tennis Weekend is a fantastic chance for people young and old to pick up a racket and have a go."
