Social care professionals can find out more about some of the job opportunities available in Wolverhampton at a recruitment fair in Birmingham next month.

Representatives from the City of Wolverhampton Council's Adults and Children's Social Care services will be on hand to highlight current vacancies in the city at the annual Compass Jobs Fair, the largest social work and social care recruitment, retention and career development event in the UK, on Monday 16 March, 2020.

Job hunters will also be able to speak to employees already working in Wolverhampton about their experiences.

In addition, the council will be hosting two seminars at the event. One will focus on the way the council has introduced new approaches across Adults and Children’s social care, bringing together a range of frontline professionals who work with individuals and families in order to help practitioners think outside of the box, learn from other specialisms and help families find their own solutions.

In the second seminar, care leaver Casey Gavin, who now works for the council, will talk about how practitioners can better 'hear' the voice of the child.

Current vacancies include social worker and newly qualified social worker roles within posts within the Children in Need and Child Protection Service, including the Court and Child Assessment Teams, and the Children and Young People in Care Service, including Disabled Children and Young People, Fostering, Transitions and Children and Young People in Care teams.

Councillor John Reynolds. the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We are attending this national event to raise the profile of social care services in Wolverhampton and promote the opportunities currently available, which in turn will help us further improve the already high standard of social work practice in the city.”

Councillor Linda Leach, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, added: “We are keen to hear from talented social care professionals who are looking for the opportunity to make a real difference to service users and who want to join our fabulous teams, and we would also encourage people to join us at one - or both - of our seminars which are taking place during the event."

The Compass Jobs Fair takes place at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, and the team from the City of Wolverhampton Council can be found at Stand 16. For more information, please visit Compass. Registration is required to attend the event.
