Residents are being invited to give generously and help make it an egg-stravagant Easter for the city's children in care and care leavers.

The City of Wolverhampton Council is appealing for people to donate chocolate Easter eggs which it will then distribute to young people.

Donations can be made to the Reach Leaving Care Team, Old Heath Crescent, Wednesfield WV1 2HP next Thursday 14 April between 1pm and 6pm. Alternatively, people can email hannah.finch@wolverhampton.gov.uk or heather.edwards@wolverhampon.co.uk, who can arrange to collect the egg(s) at a time to suit.

Jazmine Walker, Head of Service for Children and Young People in Care, said: "Supporting children in care and care leavers is a key priority for the council. In many cases, they will have experienced a tough start to their life, and we want to make sure that they don't miss out on the things that many of us take for granted.

"We're hoping to make this Easter one to remember for them all, by giving them some chocolate treats to enjoy. So please donate a chocolate egg or 2, if you can."
