Although Re-Making the Past, a touring exhibition from the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, officially opens on Saturday (8 August) and will be on show until Saturday 31 October, 2015, preparations have been completed early enabling people to enjoy a sneak preview from today.
It features work by artists Mary Butcher, Susan Kinley, Helen Marton, Syann van Niftrik, Gary Wright and Sheila Teague. They have carried out extensive research into the lives and creativity of our Neolithic ancestors and created new work in textiles, clay, metal, glass and more.
The skilled craft of these established makers explores evocative themes of ancient materials and techniques, journeys, and the human history embedded in the landscape.
The gallery is hosting a range of events and activities for all the family to support the new exhibition, including workshops for children and its annual summer garden party.
Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "Re-Making the Past promises to be a fascinating exhibition, with some wonderful and thought provoking exhibits on display. Visitors can also take part in one of the many themed activities for visitors young and old throughout the summer."
