They struck at Graiseley Primary School on Graiseley Hill over the weekend of 5 and 6 March, 2016, taking material from around the chimneys.
They also damaged tiles and sky lights in the process and heavy rain over the following days led to water pouring through the damaged roof and into the entrance hall and one of the corridors.
Headteacher Sharifan Nasa said: "The pupils and teachers were really upset about what happened.
"The flooding caused lots of damage to the ceiling and paintwork, and wrecked the work of pupils which was displayed in the corridor. It has also disrupted lessons as we were forced to close off the corridor, meaning pupils and teachers had to use the fire doors to gain access to their classrooms.
"This isn't the first time we have been targeted by vandals and we just want it to stop. The material stolen wasn't even worth anything, as it was a substitute for lead which used to be there."
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "This was deliberate vandalism and one which has caused a great deal of disruption for the pupils and teachers at Graiseley Primary School.
"I would urge anyone who may have seen suspicious activity at the school over the weekend of 5 and 6 of March, or who knows who may have been responsible, to contact police as soon as possible."
