City of Wolverhampton Council has launched a new discretionary grant to support city businesses.

The Omicron ARG (Additional Restrictions Grant) Scheme is for those businesses not eligible for the Government’s Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant - but still in need of support.

Eligible businesses must submit a new application by the 28 February, 2022, deadline regardless of previous grants they have applied for.

They will receive a one-off grant payment based on the rateable value of their business on December 30, 2021, or other criteria related to costs. Grants range from £500 to £6,000.

Councillor Stephen Simkins, City of Wolverhampton Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: “We recognise that a number of our businesses in the city do not qualify for the Government Omicron scheme but still require support to help them overcome what has been another difficult period during the pandemic.

“That is why we are offering businesses the opportunity to apply for this discretionary grant.

“I would urge the city’s businesses to check if they are eligible for this latest grant by visiting the website and applying before the deadline on 28 February.

“All grant payments remain a priority and we have support on hand to help businesses with the online application process.”

Further guidance on eligibility and how to apply is available at Government Business Grants where information on a range of other business grants can also be found.
