Housing update
Due to the current circumstances concerning coronavirus, the Housing Enabling Team are unable to take on any further minor land sale enquiries with effect from the 6 April 2020. This position has been reviewed and from 21 June 2021 the suspension will be extended for an additional period of 10 weeks. This will be reviewed again on 30 August 2021 and an update provided at this point The Council will continue with any current sales and enquiries received before the cut-off-date in line with normal processes.

Housing land enquiry

The Council own a lot of land on or around council housing estates. Any housing land enquiry will follow our corporate land disposal process. This makes sure the proposed usage is acceptable to the Council, including the following departments:

  • Planning Authority
  • Highways Authority
  • Legal Services

    Please note, these departments may impose restrictions and conditions to proceed with the sale.


    Initial enquiries have a fee of £150 for consultation between the departments mentioned above. This fee in non-refundable.

    Proceeding with a land purchase will have additional surveyor and legal costs. These are payable by the purchaser.
