Nurseries Discount 2020/2021
In response to Coronavirus, the Government announced a 100% discount on the net bill for nurseries. They made this announcement on 18 March 2020.
The Government held discussions with the European Commission over the impact of Covid-19 on sectors receiving the relief. Their assessment is that this round of discount is not State Aid.
This relief will stop at the end of the 2020/21 financial year.
The last date this relief can be granted is 30 September 2021.
Nurseries Discount 2021/2022
As announced by the government in the March budget, the discount will continue at 100% for 3 months. There is no cap during this time
From 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2022, this will reduce to 66%. This will be capped at £105,000 per business.

Nurseries Discount eligibility
The property must be:
- occupied by a service provider on Ofsted’s Early Years Register
- wholly or mainly used for the provision of the Early Years Foundation Stage
Claiming or Refusing the relief
No further claims can be made. This relief closed on 30 September 2022.
