The council has a duty to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by elected members.

To do this the Localism Act 2011 requires the authority to adopt a Code of Conduct for Councillors (see Downloads section) which sets out what is expected of members of the council acting in their capacity as councillors.

If you wish to complain about the conduct of a member of the council you must submit your complaint, in writing, to the monitoring officer:

David Pattison,
Monitoring Officer,
City of Wolverhampton Council,
Civic Centre,
St Peters Square,

Your complaint will be investigated by the Monitoring Officer and following this investigation may be considered by the Governance and Ethics Committee.  The decision of the Monitor Officer and/or the Governance and Ethics Committee is final and there is no further avenue of complaint.  If you are unhappy with the outcome of the process you are advised to seek your own legal advice.
