The City of Wolverhampton Council is proud to present the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Annual Performance for April 2024 to March 2025. This comprehensive report showcases our ongoing commitment to fostering a fair, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all residents, staff, and communities across Wolverhampton.
Our Commitment
Wolverhampton is a city rich in cultural heritage and diversity. As a local authority, we recognise our legal, moral, and business responsibilities to advance equality, celebrate diversity, and promote inclusion. Our approach is guided by the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty, ensuring that our policies and decisions positively impact people with protected characteristics.
Key Highlights
Data-Driven Insights: Using the latest Census data, we monitor and analyse the city’s demographic trends to inform our strategies and ensure our services are accessible and equitable for all.
Equality Impact Assessments: Over 100 Equality Impact Assessments were reviewed this year, with a dedicated Assurance Board established to ensure consistency and accountability in decision-making.
Staff Equality Forums: Employee-led forums provide safe spaces for discussion, influence policy, and deliver initiatives that celebrate key dates and promote inclusion within the Council.
Celebrating Diversity: We mark important awareness dates and deliver events in partnership with local organisations, including Windrush Day, Wolverhampton Pride, and Trans Day of Remembrance.
Language and Accessibility: We offer interpretation, translation, and transcription services, including British Sign Language support, to ensure all residents can access our services.
