Information and guidance for the return of organised outdoor sport as part of the next stage of the Government’s roadmap out of national lockdown

From Monday, March 29, as part of the next stage of the Government’s roadmap out of national lockdown, outdoor sports facilities can open and organised outdoor sport and football can take place.

Football pitch bookings on park sites can start from 3 April 2021. It has also been agreed that the season will be extended until 27 June 2021.

Both leagues and teams have been contacted and are aware that our end-of-season renovations may not produce playing pitch standards as before. This is because of the limited turnaround time from the end of the season in June to the start of the new season in August - giving the council just a matter of weeks for work that would normally take months for pitch ground preparation.

We know that sport has been missed and understand its health and mental health and wellbeing benefits, and are working together with the NHS in Wolverhampton and Public Health England to stop the spread of the Covid-19, this is why it’s essential that all leagues and teams keep to their risk assessments to reduce the risk of increasing the transmission of Covid-19.

We look forward to welcoming teams and leagues.
