Lyndon Purnell, chair of the central branch of the City of Wolverhampton Royal British Legion, presented Wolverhampton City Council's Civic Support Manager Lynn Bishop with a poppy brooch in recognition of the work she and her colleagues do to arrange events marking Remembrance Sunday, Armed Forces Day, VE Day and VJ Day.

Lynn said: "The Mayor's Office has a great relationship with the veterans in Wolverhampton, especially the Royal British Legion.

"They contribute significantly to our ceremonial occasions and are committed to showing Wolverhampton at its best.

"They have 'turned out' for us come rain or shine and bring a certain dignity, especially on occasions such as Remembrance Sunday, which can be very moving.

"They are a real asset to this city and in turn, we always try to help them with their own events - ensuring, wherever possible, the Mayor's attendance and facilitating, through our colleagues in Communications, publicity for them."

Lyndon Purnell, chair of the central branch of the City of Wolverhampton Royal British Legion, said: "We presented Lynn with a token of our appreciation for all the hard work she and her team have done for us over the years; I'd like to publically thank her for her efforts and we look forward to continue working closely with the Mayor's Office in the years to come."
