The Job Seekers Allowance claimant count fell by 125 in November, to 5,875 or 3.7%.

Youth unemployment latest figures show 1,300 claimants aged 18 to 24. This represents a decrease of 55 claimants from the previous month. The Youth unemployment rate is now 5.5%.

Councillor John Reynolds, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "These figures are hugely encouraging as we gear up for what is set to be a big year of further regeneration and increasing job opportunities in the city during 2016.

"Big name companies like JLR and Wiggle are looking to expand their operations and small and medium enterprise growth in the city is flourishing, highlighted by recent recruitment drives for jobs at Air Space, Casino 36 and Slater's Craft Beer Bar.

"The council continues to work closely with key stakeholders and training providers to help people find work."
