Wolverhampton will come alive to the music of brass bands this summer.

A host of local and regional bands will be coming to the city to entertain revellers over the next few weeks.

Rugeley Brass Band and Stourport Brass Band will be entertaining the crowds at the City Show in West Park on Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 July respectively, while on Sunday 21 July the City of Wolverhampton Brass Band takes centre stage at West Park.

It's the turn of the Central England Concert Band in West Park the following Sunday, 28 July, and the Royal Signals Northern Band play at the same venue on Sunday 4 August.

East Park will play host to the Black Country Brass Band on Sunday 4 August, while Phoenix Brass Band play at West Park on Sunday 11 August.

Back in East Park, it's the turn of the West Midlands Concert Band to play on Sunday 18 August, while on the same day the Central England Concert Band will be playing at West Park.

The Rugeley Power Station Brass Band will be electrifying the audiences in West Park on Monday 26 August 2013, with the West Midlands Concert Band bringing the summer season to a close with their performance at East Park on Sunday 1 September, 2013.

Meanwhile, brass bands will also be entertaining shoppers when they play at Queen Square. Phoenix Brass Band take centre stage this Saturday 13 July, while it is the turn of the Great Wyrley Community Band on Saturdays 20 July and 3 August. Black Country Brass Band will be playing on Saturday 27 July.

Stourport Concert Brass will be playing on Saturdays 10 and 17 August, with the Black Country Brass Band completing the programme on Saturday 24 August.

All the performances are from 2pm to 4pm.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: "We've got some tremendous brass bands in Wolverhampton and the West Midlands and I'm delighted that so many of them will be coming to the city to provide some fabulous summer entertainment."
