Wildside Activity Centre, based in Whitmore Reans, opened its doors for the first time in 1996 - and 2 decades on is going from strength to strength.

The 20th anniversary open day, taking place on Saturday 16 July, 2016, from 11am to 4pm, features a range of fun, free events for all the family, including trips on Wildside's own narrowboat The Trebalisa, canoeing, cycle rides, crafts and den making.

Visitors will be encouraged to take Wildside's 20/20 Challenge, and complete 20 different activities to celebrate the anniversary milestone. There will also be refreshments and stalls.

Steve Downs, Project Officer, said: "Our mission at Wildside is to provide enjoyment of the great outdoors by giving people young and old the chance to take part in adventurous and health giving activities, whatever their ability.

"At the same time, we try to foster respect for the environment and seek to care for it so that it can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.

"We are delighted to be celebrating our 20th anniversary this month, and we are inviting visitors old and new to our open day to find out more about Wildside Activity Centre and enjoy some fantastic activities we offer by tackling our 20/20 Challenge."

Councillor Steve Evans, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: "Wildside Activity Centre is a fantastic facility and one we are very lucky to have here in Wolverhampton.

"It has something for everyone, and does particularly innovative work with people who have disabilities. I am delighted that, after 20 years, Wildside continues to go from strength to strength."
