Organised by the British Nutrition Foundation, Healthy Eating Week encouraged local schools to run activities based on the themes of creative cooking, food provenance and eating and drinking well.

And Wolverhampton City Council's Catering Team served up special super fruit desserts to local schools taking part, including St Thomas' CofE Primary in Wednesfield, with tasty treats including summer fruit berry sundaes, banana splits, fresh fruit jellies, pears with yoghurt and honey, and super fruit kebabs on offer.

Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils across Wolverhampton also took part in a competition to design posters to promote healthy eating, and the winning designs by Eliot Bailey, Matilda Wilson, Ruth Winfield, Jayden Sleeuwenhoek, William Cooke and Tia Merrey have been on display around their respective schools to encourage children to make a healthy choice.

Councillor Sandra Samuels, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: "Rates of obesity in Wolverhampton are far too high, and so eating a healthier meal is one of the most important lessons we can teach our young people.

"I'm delighted that so many of our local primary and junior schools took part in Healthy Eating Week 2015, and that the pupils enjoyed the delicious and nutritious desserts we served up alongside the balanced menus which are offered on a daily basis within our city's schools."

Healthy Eating Week ran from Monday to Friday, 1 to 5 June, 2015.
