James Hough, Michael Spiers, Lewis Smith and Tom Hough will be performing a diverse selection of pieces ranging from composers such as Brahms, Rameau and Rachmaninov to Ed Sheeran and John Mayer.

The free concert takes place at 1.10pm at the Lichfield Street gallery, and has been organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council's School Music Service in conjunction with its Arts and Museums service.

Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "What better way to start the New Year than being in the beautiful Georgian Room at Wolverhampton Art Gallery listening to some fabulous music?

"This is the latest in a regular programme of performances by students who receive tuition through our School Music Service.

"They take place approximately every fortnight during term time and we are delighted with how they are going. Not only do they give students the chance to perform in front of a live audience in the fantastic surroundings of the Georgian Room, but are also bringing more people into the gallery.

"And because the concerts are only around half an hour long, they are ideal for people working in the city centre to enjoy on their lunch break."

She added: "More than 3,000 young people in the city receive tuition from Wolverhampton Music Service every week, with pupils singing at a number of events throughout the year, either at the Music School or at local venues like the art gallery, and I'd like to congratulate all the students who have taken part in the concert programme so far."
