Artist Paul Pilgrim created a striking piece, featuring a transport related theme, on the underpass wall at Peel Street car park on Sunday (8 December).
The wall has become unsightly for users of the car park after being daubed with unauthorised graffiti.
Paul approached the council asking for a location where he could put his talents to use, free of charge, and add a bit of colour to an area.
Wolverhampton City Council's transportation department decided to take up the offer and find a creative solution to the problem instead of simply clearing the wall.
Councillor John Reynolds, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for City Services, said: "This is a very artistic way of tidying up an eyesore for visitors to Peel Street car park.
"These artists are very talented and it is great to be able to give them a platform to showcase their work and demonstrate that graffiti can be a welcome addition to an area.
"And the fact that they did this for free means the council will actually save money as we won't have to wash the walls and apply anti graffiti treatment to it so we are doubly grateful for that."
