Budding basketball players can get top tips and shoot some hoops at new training sessions held at WV Active Aldersley every Wednesday evening.

Coaches Douaine Anderson and Gurpreet Randhawa hold 2 sessions at the leisure centre every week, a junior session for children aged between 8 and 13 and a senior session for young people aged 14 and over and adults.

Councillor Steve Evans, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: "The basketball sessions are proving incredibly popular with young people and adults alike.

" Douaine and Gurpreet offer excellent tuition, both for beginners and those who have played before, and Douaine, who is a professional basketball player, hopes to get seniors to a level where they can compete in the West Midlands Basketball League."

The sessions take place every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7pm, and cost £3 for juniors, £4 for seniors.

WV Active Aldersley, on Hugh Porter Way, Aldersley, offers a fitness gym and exercise studio, athletics track, cycling velodrome, outdoor tennis and netball courts, sports pitches and indoor arena for badminton, tennis, indoor bowls, 5 a side football and more.
