Parents and guardians of pupils due to start school for the first time next September are being urged to apply for reception class places now.

The window is now open for applications for reception places at infant and primary schools in Wolverhampton, and parents and guardians have until 15 January, 2015 to register their preferred choice of school.

Councillor Phil Page, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills and Learning, said: "Parents or guardians of children who are due to start school next autumn should by now have received their application pack, and I'd urge them to set aside some time now to decide which school they'd prefer their child to attend.

"This is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child's future. The application process is straightforward and should only take a few minutes to complete.

"It's important that you get your applications in by the deadline of 15 January, 2015 as more than 3,000 pupils in Wolverhampton are expected to start in reception classes next year, and failing to apply in time could jeopardise your chance of securing a place at one of your preferred schools."
