Two thirds of parents with children beginning secondary school next year have submitted applications for school places, while the remaining families are reminded to complete the process.

The application deadline for students commencing Year 7 in 2026 is Friday 31 October, 2025, and parents are requested to submit theirs by then.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education said: “If your child is in their final year at primary or junior school, you should now be making your application for a secondary school place for them.

“While making the transfer to secondary school may seem some way off, the closing date for applications is the end of this month, so time really is of the essence.

“Around two thirds have already completed their applications. The process is quick and easy, and ensuring applications are made before the deadline will increase the chances of securing a place at a preferred school.”

For information on how to apply please visit School admissions and complete the short application process.

Parents and guardians will be notified of their child’s allocated school place on 2 March, 2026.

Applying online has a number of benefits – they can be made through a secure website and viewed and edited online up to the closing date for applications of 31 October, 2025. Applicants will also be able to access their child's school allocation online on 2 March, 2026, rather than having to wait for a letter in the post.

For anyone who needs assistance with their online application, the council’s Customer Services team is providing face-to-face digital support surgeries at the Civic Centre, St Peter's Square, Wolverhampton, WV1 1SH on Thursdays 16, 23 and 30 October from 10am to 2pm.
