Ofsted visited the Whitmore Reans school last month and noted a range of improvements which have been made over the last few months.
Inspectors found that "leadership and management has improved considerably", noting that senior leaders are driving improvement as they "understand their roles and responsibilities and have high expectations" and enjoy positive relationships with staff and pupils.
Teaching and learning is also improving, with inspectors praising the targeted interventions given by staff to pupils who may otherwise have not attended school, or made little progress in mainstream class. Improvements have also been made to the learning environment, with good quality, motivational displays of work now on show in classrooms and corridors.
New Park, which caters for pupils from Wolverhampton and the wider area with severe emotional and behavioural needs, was placed into special measures last year - but under the guidance of headteacher Fran Pass, who was appointed in April 2015, with support from the Interim Executive Board installed by the City of Wolverhampton Council, is "taking effective action towards the removal of special measures".
Councillor Claire Darke, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, said: "I am pleased that inspectors have noted the steady progress which is being made to bring New Park School out of special measures.
"We have now had 3 encouraging reports following monitoring inspection visits to schools in special measures in recent weeks - the others being Hill Avenue Primary School and the Kingston Centre - all of which say that leaders are taking effective measures to move their schools out of special measures.
"Clearly there is much more to be done, but with the excellent leadership in place at the 3 schools, alongside the backing of pupils and parents and effective support from the City of Wolverhampton Council, I am confident that they will all come out of special measures in due course."
New Park School is set to become an Academy, sponsored by Northern House School Academy Trust, in the new year.
