Customers of a Wolverhampton library have been praised for their efforts to help the city's needy this winter.

Low Hill Library's Knit and Natter group presented Brother Charles, of Darlington Street Methodist Church, with a number of gloves and hats knitted with wool donated by library users today (Thursday 28 November). These will be distributed to the needy of Wolverhampton.

Gail Harper, Assistant Librarian at Low Hill, said: "Low Hill's Knit and Natter group was the first knitting group to be established in Wolverhampton's libraries and has proved extremely popular.

"It has a regular core of between 8 and 14 ladies who meet in the library every Thursday from 11am to 12.30pm, and they have previously donated money to local charities from the proceeds of selling other knitted items."
