The Wolves LGBT+ Pride Festival returns to the City of Wolverhampton this weekend with an exciting line up of performers, stalls, street food vendors and bars.

St Peter’s Car Park, off Wulfruna Street, in the city centre is the venue for the free event on Saturday (12 October) which will take place under a giant marquee.

Headlining the fun packed afternoon will be a Lady Gaga tribute act as well as tributes to Elton John and Ariana Grande.

BBC Radio 2’s Richie Anderson will be making an appearance as well as Wolverhampton’s very own Nate Ethan who is believed to be the country’s first transgender rapper and Wolverhampton Brass Band.

Refreshments will be provided by a variety of street food vendors and there will be a selection of bars including gin, prosecco and cocktail specialists.

The Pride festival has been organised and funded by City of Wolverhampton on behalf of the Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance and funding has also been provided by the University of Wolverhampton.

Councillor Ian Brookfield, Leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “I am delighted that the council has been able to once again support Wolves LGBT+ Pride this year which celebrates the diversity of our city.

“This is a free afternoon and evening where everyone is welcome to come together in a party atmosphere to show our solidarity with the LGBT+ community.”

Professor Geoff Layer, Vice Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, said: “As the ‘University of Opportunity’ we think it is vital to work with our partners and neighbours for the betterment of the region.

“Being inclusive and fair are among one of our core values and we are proud to support and celebrate with the LGBT+ community as part of Wolves Pride.

“The event provides a unique opportunity to bring together students and the local community to showcase the diversity of our city.”

Our city is made up of wonderfully diverse communities and it is our aim to show that anyone who identifies as LGBT+ is welcome and included in the city's future.

“It will be a great honour to take part in an event which celebrates difference, love and inclusion. We hope that everyone taking part has a brilliant day and recognises the importance of Pride events."
