The 2014 Wimbledon tennis championships are well underway - and anyone who has been inspired by the exploits of the likes of Andy Murray or Maria Sharapova is being encouraged to grab a racket and head down to their local tennis courts.

Wolverhampton City Council manages a number of tennis courts around the city.

They include pay as you play outdoor courts at Aldersley Leisure Village which can be booked in advance, as well as free to use outdoor courts at West Park, East Park, Claregate and Bradmore Recreation Ground.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "Not only is it great fun, but tennis is also an excellent form of exercise and can be played at nearly any age and at any skill level - so it's a great game for families, too.

"I'd encourage anyone who is inspired by the Wimbledon tennis championships to grab a racket and give it a go."

The tennis courts at Aldersley Leisure Village can be hired for £5.80 per hour, or £2.90 for juniors - for more information, please call the centre on 01902 556200 or visit Type=articles;Articleid=1753;Title=Leisure Centres;. Please note the courts at West Park and East Park cannot be reserved in advance.
