Dozens of new jobs are available to unemployed people in Wolverhampton through a recruitment drive for a major new business.

Wiggle, the UK's biggest online cycle and tri sports retailer, moved its distribution centre to Bilston earlier this year, and is now working with Wolverhampton City Council, the City of Wolverhampton College and JobCentre Plus to fill some of the 140 warehouse roles which it is creating.

Wiggle had a prominent role at Wolverhampton Jobs Fair back in March, and now it is stepping up its recruitment drive by offering permanent warehouse operative positions at its Citadel base to local unemployed people.

A special Wiggle pre-recruitment course run by City of Wolverhampton College starts this week with further courses planned from July onwards aimed at developing the skills of jobseekers, and give them guaranteed interviews for the roles which are available. The pre recruitment course is open to unemployed people of all ages who have a positive attitude and want to work in a lively environment.

For further details about the Wiggle pre recruitment course, people should contact their local JobCentre Plus or the City of Wolverhampton College's Employability Department 01902 837198.

Councillor John Reynolds, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "We have worked closely with Wiggle throughout its relocation to Wolverhampton, and are continuing to do so in order to give local people the chance to take up employment opportunities in its distribution centre.

"Having a leading national brand like Wiggle making Wolverhampton its home is great news for the city, and as well as creating much needed jobs, we hope that it will also inspire local people to become more active and lead healthy lifestyles through its focus on sports products."
