Using money raised through 51 local society lotteries and The Health Lottery, the People's Health Trust has opened its Active Communities in HealthDesire fund in Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Dudley and Walsall.
Active Communities is a programme for community groups and not for profit organisations offering between £5,000 and £50,000 for projects which last up to 2 years. The projects should take place within a geographical area or help smaller groups of people.
The proposals should be designed and led by local people, help to create stronger connections between people and enable them to feel they are making a difference to their local area.
Ideas previously funded by Active Communities include a mediation service run by tenants on a housing estate, a computer skills support group run by and for older people and the establishment of green spaces in urban areas.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "This is a great opportunity for local groups and organisations to secure funding and do something amazing for their community."
