Central Library in Wolverhampton is hosting a series of events from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 8 February, 2014, including appearances by up and coming children's author Nisha Chahal, cartoon illustrator Laura Howell and poet and author Simon Fletcher.

There will also be storytime events and music courtesy of Luke Brougham. Writer and storyteller John Edgar will be master of ceremonies throughout and hosting a storytime session of his own in the afternoon.

Tina Campbell, Wolverhampton City Council's Libraries Activities and Events Co-ordinator, said: "Libraries are places for everyone who loves and promotes the enjoyment of reading - but they are about more than just books; they offer a great opportunity to keep the kids occupied and meet new friends.

"National Libraries Day should be fantastic because we've got a packed programme of events at Central Library and we'd like to invite as many people as possible to come along and be part of it."

People are also being encouraged to get involved in National Libraries Day through Wolverhampton Libraries' Type=links;Linkid=3154;Title=Facebook;Target=_blank; page, sharing their favourite children's author, discuss classic books and tell others about their best reads of 2013.
