The free event, which runs from 11am to 3pm, will see the park transformed into a series of interactive themed play places aimed at children aged up to 12.

For the younger visitors there will be a Toddlers Village featuring activities provided by the city's Children's Centres.

And for the more adventurous, attractions include an area where children can make their own dens or tackle a low ropes course with cargo nets, traversing ropes and rope swings. There is also a cycle route around the park, a cycling assault course and specially adapted bikes available for those with disabilities.

Children can practice their circus skills with skipping ropes, parachutes, hop scotch and hula hoops in a free play area, which needs parental supervision.

The Playday event has been organised by Wolverhampton City Council's Children, Young People and Families Services and there will also be a stand offering information and advice to parents.
