HeadStart is working with Gazebo Theatre, the WV10 Consortium and YMCA Black Country to provide a range of after school sessions for young people and their families living in the 4 HeadStart target areas.
Young people in Low Hill, The Scotlands and Bushbury South can enjoy drama and dance workshops, sports, art workshops, cookery lessons and Sikh martial arts at Park Village Education Centre and Low Hill Community Centre. In addition, they can explore space and the universe through interactive discovery sessions at Big Venture Centre.
Meanwhile, parents can drop in to Flourishing Family sessions at Big Venture Centre, designed to enable them to learn new skills. Support will also be on offer from representatives of Wolverhampton Homes, Wolverhampton City Credit Union, Access2Business, Black Country Impact and more.
YMCA Black Country is providing a range of fun and engaging activities for young people living in the Springfield, Heath Town, Old Heath and Eastfield area and in the All Saints, Blakenhall, Parkfields, and Ettingshall area. Activities include craft sessions, boxing, dance and more.
In addition, there are sessions for parents and carers including yoga, coffee mornings, boxercise, dance fitness and DIY beauty workshops.
In Bilston East, Gazebo Theatre will be hosting its Place To Be Me programme every Monday and Wednesday at Bilston Town Hall and every Thursday at Lower Bradley Community Centre, with each session running from 5pm to 7pm. Activities on offer include drama and dance workshops, songwriting sessions, music recording and more.

HeadStart Wolverhampton, part of a £56m National Lottery funded programme set up by Big Lottery Fund covering 6 areas across the country, is designed to improve the emotional mental health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 10 to 16 by giving them the skills they need to cope with the challenges of modern life.
As well as running a series of specific programmes in the 4 target areas, HeadStart offers city wide help through its Support and Guidance Directory, including information targeted at young people, parents and carers and professionals.
